Computers for Education
We have teamed up with another volunteer organization called "COMPUTERS FOR EDUCATION". Their main purpose is
to take used computers that are donated and get them back into shape so they are again useable. They take each computer and load
them up with software and then run tests to check out each system. They fix anything that is broken and then remove all the software
that they loaded. The computer now is formatted and placed in a holding status awaiting a needy user.
This is where we come in. We purchase or use donated software to load up the systems so they are ready for use
by any user or organization that can use them. Of course we only work with organizations that have kids as their main focus. The kind
folks at "COMPUTERS FOR EDUCATION" donate the completed systems so we can load them and get them out to the kids. They also
donate very nice Laser printers for each lab and we are given just about anything we can use from their organization. Their
program is ran by a super nice man named Freebie J. Bassett. He started doing the charity work out of his garage and now has
more then 20 volunteers working with him to bring these donated computers back to life.
Besides donating systems to our kid's program, they offer computer systems to anyone working in the educational field and
system. Teachers can call and get systems delivered to their classrooms or they can also give multiple systems out to setup labs or other
educational uses. Again, their systems do not come with software as they push out 100's of systems a year and they would have to buy
software for every computer. But, if the computers will be used mainly for kids, we will step in and acquire the software for the
computers and get them loaded before they are delivered to the new owners. All this work is done with no charge to the schools,
teachers, or kids.
