7. Custom Sandpaper Racquets
Sandpaper Racquets not on the approved equipment list are subject to specific evaluation by
tournament officials. One of the major goals of the USSTTA is to ensure that players win based
on their individual skills and not due to equipment advantages. Custom racquets, not on the
approved list, may be approved and used provided they meet the approved racquet specifications.
Tournament officials shall examine custom racquets specifically to determine if the racquet specifications are met.
The custom racquet must meet the criteria specified in {Section 1--The Racquet} in the Sandpaper Table Tennis Rules.
