HOW TO GET STARTED

HOW TO GET STARTED WITH SUPER BIG BALL

It is really easy to get started with the 44mm Table Tennis. The first thing you need is the 44 mm ball. You can purchase the 44 mm ball from just about any table tennis supply company. Nittaku. Butterfly, Joola and several other 3-Star Premium balls are available from various companies, mostly on-line. You can also purchase practice balls from Rose at a reduced price from several table tennis distributors.

After you receive the balls, you will need to construct a 2.0 cm spacer to add to each side of the net structure on the table. This simply and easily raises the net up to 17.25 cm instead of 15.25 cm. These are easily made using a small wooden cylinder or other material that can be easily added to the net structure to raise it up. This small device can be added and removed in a matter of a couple of minutes.

The other item you will need is a paddle with short-pips rubber (out) on both sides. The rubber sheet must be identical as to brand, with one side black and the other red. It must be short-pip out on both sides. Medium pips or long pips are not allowed. The sponge must also be identical on both sides of the paddle. The rubber must have a JTTAA, ITTF or USATT label which can be verified as short-pips, especially in tournament or official play.

So, the above are the main ingredients you need to get ready for this great sport of 44mm Table Tennis. Most players will be able to immediately tell a great difference in the enjoyment level of the game. The rallies will be longer, the ball will be much easier to see, players will be able to move to the location of the ball return and get in position to make a great return. The extra spin that confuses and complicates play will no longer be such a major factor in the game. Spectators will be able to actually watch the flight of the ball and enjoy longer, more rewarding rallies.

Yes, it will take a few games for most players to adjust to the size of the ball, height of the net and the use of the new paddles, but after a few games, the true enjoyment of this sport will be in place and will grow with each game, match and tournament. It is important for players to get adjusted to the new game and not to judge too quickly until they feel comfortable! So--Go for it today!!!
