FRICTIONLESS LONG-PIPS TO BE OUTLAWED IN USATT TOURNAMENT PLAY
It appears that frictionless longpips rubber will soon be outlawed by the ITTF and by the USATT. Many players are currently using this type of rubber. There has been a great deal of discussion and controversy about the frictionless characteristics and how it impacts the sport of table tennis.

Friday night, Aug.15, 2008 is the first day of the Florida Orange Blossom Series-Summer Classic 2008. The tournament is held in Lakeland, Florida at the Simpson Park Community Center. On Friday night, we will start off with the Hard Bat Events at 6:00 p.m. and then the Doubles Events beginning at 7:30 p.m. All events will be completed by 9:30 p.m. The Singles Event (Colossal Round Robin) will be conducted on the following day (Saturday Aug. 16, 2008) beginning at 9:00 a.m.

This is a USATT sanctioned Colossal Round Robin Two-Star Tournament. The tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. and should finish near 5:30 p.m. There is a maximum of 110 players in this event, with players divided into 10 classes of 11 players in a full tournament.
